Qualifications

Over two sunny days on the banks of the River Severn, we recently completed the Rescue 3 Swiftwater and Flood First Responder Course.

The course – run by Adventure Consultancy – covers how water behaves, how to spot hazards, and how to make good decisions when conditions change quickly.

A big part of the training focused on keeping ourselves safe as a priority, understanding self‑rescue techniques, using throwlines and basic kit properly, and moving confidently in and around moving water.

We were blessed with fantastic weather during the course but, as we know, danger is just around the corner in all climates.

The course isn’t just a requirement for certain organisations — it’s a genuinely valuable, real‑world qualification to have in your toolkit.

Let’s hope our qualification isn’t put into use, but if it’s needed then we will be prepared!
