The Month of May 2024

And so we wave goodbye to May 2024.

Manchester City won the Premier League, a General Election was called and Switzerland won Eurovision.

Meanwhile, PPS were travelling to various corners of the UK – starting on Merseyside and finishing up in East Sussex.

Our work in Merseyside span across three weeks as we surveyed three water channels for an upcoming development project.

With heavy rain, our initial plans were somewhat scuppered but flexibility within our schedule allowed us to complete the job within the quoted timeframe.

We encountered pumping stations, blocked culvert entrances, bus stop signs in the brook and racing pigeons. Quite the diverse few weeks!

And then it was down to the south coast for a short but vital job. A concrete spillway on the edge of a lake was on the verge of collapse so it was up to us to undertake a topographical survey ahead of its repair.

The survey saw us take spot levels across the 5 metre wide spillway and take bed levels at a radius of 10 metres around the edges of the spillway.

Thankfully the lake was surrounded by a beautiful line of trees – the canopy sheltering us from the constant rain during the job. Rain in May…who’d have thought it?
